Event Description

Thunderbird 2 is sailing from San Diego and down the Mexico Pacific coast in November, and we have promised a cargo hold FULL of schoolkid's supplies, including shoes, pencils, crayon, backpacks etc. Can you help? The non-Spanish-speaking kids don't get any public schooling and are totally dependent on charity.

12-April-13: Quotation from a Zihuatanejo official about IRG's help: Communications Coordinator of the DIF: "All the time we speak of humility that describes people like you, who always seek to exploit all journeys in life, to cover benefits to others, unknown, such as our trustees chaired by Mrs Wendy Carbajal, First Lady of Municipality and Mr. Jose Angel Lara who coordinates the Civil Protection Directorate of Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa."

Reported by Captain Evelyne commanding IRG vessel Thunderbird 1, in a meeting in Zihuatanejo after the crew delivered supplies to underprivileged schoolchildren.

Hi Atlas,
Quite right, Spanish books if available are needed.
Thunderbird 2 has a 10-ton cargo capacity, but it depends on the cargo density; our first mission will be a ship filled to the gills with medical and schoolkids' supplies, so we're more likely to carry between 2 to 4 tons.
I'm going to edit this page with a delayed departure date, because we still need to get Thunderbird 2 into a new marine facility to complete the propulsion installation - most other work underway right now is cosmetic...

What language do these children speak? It occurs to me that the thing that may help them the most is books that could assist them in picking up Spanish.

How much available space does the cargo hold have?
