Information

97-foot Dutch steel gaff-rigged ketch 1978 for sale

This yacht is always "The Queen Of The Anchorage" wherever she sails!

IRG's flagship has been in operation in disaster relief and humanitarian aid missions for 4 years and 7,000nm in the Caribbean region and after a hard life continuously at sea or anchor she is in need of a haulout to replace a main engine cylinder head, repair hull dents and usual refit including bottom and topsides paint and prop shaft work etc. for another 3 years of operation.

78' on deck, 19.5' beam, 7' draft and 97-ton lying in Hollywood, Florida.

Here is an opportunity to own and fit-out to your own specifications a gracious yacht perfect for chartering or private cruising with the larger budget, or even a palatial live-aboard.

Please see the documents "STATEMENT OF CONDITION" and "ESTIMATES FOR REFIT" on this page below.

She is glorious below deck with beautiful varnished mahogany woodwork throughout in excellent condition. To bring her back t0 "charter-level" glory she needs work including a full rigging survey and refit, hull work, corrosion removal and repainting, main engine rebuild and servicing two generators and we would recommend a full navigation electronics modernization (basic instruments work).

As a charity, we do not have the funds to commit to a refit of this vessel, therefore wish to sell her quickly. HER CAPTAIN AND OPERATOR FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS WILL COMMIT 4 WEEKS TO HELP YOU PLAN AND REFIT THIS YACHT. HE HAS BUILT A STEEL 56' TRAWLER IN THE PAST AND CAN HANDLE ALL THE STEEL HULL WORK AND SUPPORT MACHINERY RE-FIT.

We are still working on these numbers in detail, but our estimate for a "Seaworthiness refit" is $35,000 which includes a haulout, basic repairs, anti-fouling paint, engine repairs and generator service, propshaft-out stuffing box repaint and re-flax etc.

To bring this yacht to an insurable fully operational charter-level condition, our estimate is $120,000.

PRICE: If a new owner wishes a 97-foot beautiful "pirate ship" old lady of the sea in refitted condition and ready for a 3 year cruise with their choice of colors and sail covers, they can acquire this beautiful yacht for a total of $300,000 which includes IRG's sale price of $180,000 plus a $120,000 refit.
