TREATING CHOLERA

From IRG's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Peter Perez:

Clean drinking water is the most preventative method for cholera avoidance to begin with. Typically thereafter for acute cases we would treat with IV fluids, so supplies that include oral rehydration solutions such as Pedialyte (oral rehydration solution) are key. For those more severely dehydrated we use IV fluid rehydration.

If we are able to source supplies the above list would include:
  • Oral solutions
  • IV fluid bags
  • Basic IV starter kits to begin simple IV rehydration treatment
