Join the IRG Reserve: It is estimated that there are 10,000 cruising boats worldwide (sources include veteran author Jimmy Cornell, Latitude 38, SSCA and the Cruising Association). Cruisers are typically couples or families in various types of yacht - and any boat can find a way to help! When we respond to disasters, we will alert the whole network and especially IRG Reserve Boats in the area using our global text messaging and email network.
Reservists like Captain Bagnell (Moonshadow) and Co-captains Rene Steinhauer, RN, EMT-P & Danya Steinhauer RN, BSN (Witchdoctor II) are ready to pick up medical supplies, take on staple foods and even anchor off a disaster zone and make water for thirsty survivors.
IRG will direct you to a coastal town close to your location - warehouses and hospitals - where you can pick up supplies for free, and transport the vital goods to survivors. You will be given an opportunity to sit in on a 1-day online training event, or can be trained by an already qualified IRG Reservist near you. Click here to register and we'll be in touch!
Be a local Commodore: Do you believe in our mission, love boats and would like to be a local representative, present International Rescue Group at yacht clubs and other events, help fundraise and find donated boats for us to refit and send out on missions? Send us an email and tell us your ideas! Or call Captain Ray on 510-463-4IRG (510-463-4474).
