T2 construction log 3-Feb-12

Aaron Cushman and I measured up the location of the starboard anchor hawsehole and transposed a punch hole ellipse on the port side. Now time to light up the oxy-acetylene torch and cut out the hole with all the steel framing behind. Not easy.

Today International Rescue Group was awarded 501(c)(3) charitable tax exemption, back dated to last year! I am beside myself with joy that after nearly a year of extremely complicated paperwork, we finally have this very important status that's vital to our fundraising.

Tropical Cyclone THANE-11 threatening Eastern India

Tropical Cyclone THANE-11 of Saffir-Simpson Category 1 affected 16 million people with winds above 39mph (63 km/h) and 3.5 million people with hurricane wind strengths (74mph or 119 km/h). In addition, 121 thousand people are living in coastal areas below 5m and can therefore be affected by storm surge.

Thailand Prime Minister says "..flooding has overwhelmed government"

This exemplifies why International Rescue will be commencing operations in this area at the end of next year. Help us to launch our first rescue vessel "T2", which will be able to help a coastal community of 1,000 at a time.

Island nation of Tuvalu declares water emergency

Another mission that IRG could undertake but we're not ready yet. T2's planned water tanks and watermaker capability will be able to maintain a coastal community of 1,000 people. We will make a difference. But we do need help to launch the ship and put her on station with a volunteer crew...

Volunteers who travel get a cabin aboard T2!

Volunteers who support the construction of T2 get a cabin aboard the ship! For those of you who would like to mix free accommodation on T2 while we are fitting out the ship, and who donate their time on woodworking, electrical, painting and other boat projects, will be allocated a sleeping cabin.

The island of Alameda, with a totally open view of San Francisco from the flying bridge of T2 (known at "Ray's Cocktail Lounge" - see picture!) is the sunniest part of the Bay Area.
