IRG has been invited by Commodore Escrich of the Hemmingway Yacht Club, Havana he says "I would ...like to have the honor to personally greet the members of the International Rescue Group arriving in Hemingway Marina, and invite them to join the big family of members of this Cuban nautical institution".

Our other vessel Tandemeer was already in Cuba earlier this year with no problems, and I am leading our next visit more officially. We have a Spanish-speaking crew member joining us in a couple of days to sail from Haiti to Cuba and his ability to translate and help us develop relationships will be invaluable.

One of IRG's Board of Directors, Dr. Peter Perez, is also a Spanish speaker and has contacts in the medical world, we hope that he can introduce us into Havana's famous medical university to recruit future volunteers in our humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations.

We will be investigating how we can amplify International Rescue Group's operations through connections with Cuba especially now that diplomatic relations are thawing in the USA, including:

  • Volunteer personnel from the Cuban medical profession
  • Relationships with Cuban officials to smooth our way in case of disaster response on Cuba
  • Open relationships with Cuban and other related humanitarian organizations.

If you have any interest or contacts that can help us in this mission, please contact me.

Ahoy Capt. Ray, just received your email re: the cooling pump assembly, given the late notice I doubt I'd be able to find a source: any suggestions and I'll be happy to pick one up. My flight leaves 0700.
