  • We're not looking for licensed captains, though that would be a plus. What's more important is that you have some cruising time and can demonstrate that you are a competent skipper or team.
  • If you're a doctor, nurse or have some medical training including first aid, that would be a plus.
  • CRUISING WITH A MISSION: We need someone who believes in IRG's mission and will be active to spread the word, sign up cruisers into the IRG Reserve and respond to missions from time-to-time when in range, including disaster relief and other humanitarian aid operations.
  • IRG needs resourceful, enthusiastic cruising sailors. Maybe you can't afford your own boat, but you have something to offer our organization? Click here to see Thunderbird 1 and her mission so far to get an idea of the boat!
  • You will be responsible for returning the boat in the same condition we gave it to you at the end of your term. That means you are relatively independent, though IRG can help you with fundraising activities. A PayPal account will be established for the boat that you will administer. Our agreement will be automatically renewable indefinitely if you are meeting IRG's goals!
  • If you're interested, we'll meet on Skype first, then we'd like you to join us on our headquarters boat Thunderbird 2 in San Francisco for a month for orientation. Room and food is covered, you pay for your own travel here and thence to join your boat.
